Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
1. Policy Statement
GENSETSUK is committed to eliminating modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking from our business operations and supply chains.
We operate with absolute integrity, transparency, and clear ethical standards across all components of our UK-based generator hire and sales business.
We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery.
We will not knowingly engage, support or enter into partnerships with any business or supplier involved in human exploitation.
2. Scope
This policy applies directly to all individuals working at all levels of our organisation, including:
- Directors and senior executives
- Permanent, temporary, and agency employees
- Sub-contractors, equipment hauliers, and site engineers
- Equipment manufacturers (OEMs), component suppliers, and third-party business partners
3. High-Risk Areas in Generator Hire & Sales
While our operations are contained within the UK, we recognise that the power-generation sector interfaces with global supply chains that carry inherent risk.
We actively audit and manage risk in these core areas:
- Global Equipment Sourcing: Heavy machinery, copper cabling, alternators, and engine parts often originate or undergo assembly in high-risk regions.
- Logistics and Heavy Haulage: Using third-party transport and freight services carries an elevated risk of exploitative labour practices.
- Site Services and Contingent Labour: Utilising short-notice agency labor for site installations, event set-ups and fuel-management services.
4. Due Diligence and Supplier Controls
To ensure compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, we execute rigorous pre-qualification and vetting procedures:
- Supplier Questionnaires: All key suppliers, particularly generator manufacturers and fuel distributors, must pass a compliance review regarding their own labour supply chains.
- Contractual Commitments: Our standard commercial terms require explicit compliance with anti-slavery laws.
- Right to Work Checks: We conduct stringent verification of legal work status for all internal personnel and direct site contractors before allowing entry onto depot properties or client sites.
5. Reporting and Whistleblowing
We encourage our personnel and contractors to speak up early about any suspicious practices.
- Any employee who suspects modern slavery within our operations or supply chain must immediately flag it to the HR Department or a Company Director.
- We provide a secure, confidential environment for whistleblowers, ensuring that no individual faces retaliation or detrimental treatment for reporting valid concerns.
- For external guidance or urgent escalations, individuals can contact the official UK Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.
6. Training and Awareness
- We provide tailored training to employees involved in procurement, supply chain tracking, HR and depot management to ensure they can identify signs of forced labour.
- This policy statement is highly visible to all team members via our internal network and is updated regularly during worker induction pathways.
7. Breach of Policy
- Employees: Any worker who violates this policy will face immediate internal disciplinary action which may escalate to summary dismissal for gross misconduct.
- Suppliers & Contractors: We will immediately suspend or terminate commercial agreements with any third-party business found to tolerate or actively engage in modern slavery.
8. Governance and Review
The Board of Directors holds ultimate accountability for implementing this policy.
They ensure the allocation of sufficient corporate focus and operational resources to safeguard our supply chains.
This policy undergoes an official review on an annual basis to match legal developments and changing business priorities.
