At GENSETSUK, we understand that operating temporary power, lighting, and site welfare comes with unpredictable risks. To provide complete peace of mind, we offer a comprehensive Damage Waiver scheme. 

This option limits your financial liability if our equipment is accidentally damaged while on hire.

When booking your equipment, you can choose between two clear paths to ensure you are fully protected:

• Opt for the GENSETSUK Damage Waiver: Pay an additional 10% fee on top of your base hire rate, and we will waive our right to recover the costs of accidental loss or damage from you.
• Maintain Your Own Hired-In Plant Insurance: Provide us with proof of a valid, current insurance policy that fully covers the replacement value of our equipment to opt out of the 10% fee.

What Equipment is Covered?

Our 10% Damage Waiver applies across our entire hire fleet, including:

• Generators & Power Units: All static and road-tow diesel generator sets.
• Tower Lights: Mobile, road-tow, and static LED or metal-halide lighting towers.
• Generator Accessories: Distribution boards, extension leads, trailing cables, changeover switches, and external fuel tanks (when hired alongside the power unit).
• Towable Welfare Units: Standard and eco site cabins, including integrated canteens, drying rooms, and toilet facilities.
• Welfare Vans: Dedicated mobile welfare vehicles (covering the integrated welfare cabin equipment and internal fixtures).

What is Covered?

Our Damage Waiver protects you against the unexpected during standard operational use within the UK. It explicitly covers:

• Accidental Damage: Unintentional physical damage to equipment canopies, bodywork, control panels, masts, or internal mechanisms during normal operation.
• Vandalism & Malicious Damage: Damage caused by third parties, provided the incident is immediately reported to the police and a valid crime reference number is obtained.
• Environmental/Weather Damage: Protection against severe UK weather incidents (such as storm or wind damage to tower light masts), provided the equipment was correctly sited, lowered during high winds, and operated according to our safety guidelines.

What is Excluded? (Your Responsibilities)

The Damage Waiver is an agreement to waive accidental repair costs; it is not an insurance policy. To maintain cover, hirers must exercise reasonable care. 

The 10% waiver strictly does not cover:

• Theft, Loss and Negligence: Total loss or theft of any equipment, especially if left unsecured, keys left in ignitions, or left in a vulnerable location without proper security locks.
• Road Traffic Accidents & Transit Damage (Welfare Vans/Towables):Standard UK road accidents or vehicle collisions involving welfare vans or towable units. These must be covered under your own commercial motor or fleet insurance.
• Misfuelling Errors: Costs associated with draining tanks, engine repairs, or replacement fuel due to putting incorrect fuel types into generators, lighting towers, or welfare vehicles.
• Neglect & Lack of Maintenance: Damage caused by running units without basic daily checks (e.g., operating with insufficient oil, coolant, or fluid levels).
• Misuse & Overloading: Damage resulting from operating power or lighting equipment outside rated capacities, or failing to lower tower light masts in high winds.
• Internal Interior Damage (Welfare): Severe neglect, blockages to toilet systems caused by foreign objects, or malicious interior damage to canteens and welfare spaces.
• Unauthorised Hirers: Any damage that occurs if the equipment has been sub-hired to a third party without the express written consent of GENSETSUK.

How to Choose Your Cover

• Add at Checkout: Simply select the "Add Damage Waiver (10%)" option when finalising your rental agreement online.
• Corporate & Account Holders: If you hold a commercial credit account with us and carry annual Hired-In Plant Insurance, please contact our team directly to submit your policy details and opt out of the standard waiver fee.
