Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs

What sizes of generators do you have available for hire?
GENSETSUK maintains a versatile, modern rental fleet of canopied, silent, and containerised diesel generators. Our units range from 20kVA to 2,000kVA, allowing us to accommodate everything from small outdoor community events to heavy industrial backup and massive multi-megawatt configurations.

How do I calculate what size generator I need?
Selecting the right size is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted performance and avoiding equipment damage. You need to calculate the combined continuous running wattage and initial starting wattage of all equipment planned for use.

Leave the heavy lifting to us:
True to our core mission of providing "Power When You Need It," our expert engineers will completely remove the complexity of initial capacity sizing and site planning for you.

What is the difference between kVA and kW?
kW (Kilowatt):This represents the actual working power that an electrical system uses to perform useful output.
kVA (Kilo-volt-amperes): This is the apparent power, indicating the total amount of power being used throughout the system overall.

🚚 Logistics, Setup, & Operations

Do you provide delivery, cables, and distribution equipment?
Yes. As a leading turnkey provider of temporary power systems, we take care of the entire logistical footprint. Alongside rapid generator delivery via our specialist transport fleet, we supply all necessary power infrastructure, including custom cabling and distribution equipment, ensuring a seamless connection.
Do I always need a site survey?
While simple small-scale rentals may not require one, a professional site survey is highly recommended for complex industrial, commercial, or standby power applications. Our team assesses constraints such as physical access, load distributions, cable lengths, and local environmental considerations to build a bulletproof deployment plan.
What type of fuel do the generators use, and how is it managed?
Our hire units utilize standard white diesel or specialised eco-fuels depending on site requirements. After the hire concludes, our team calculates the exact fuel consumed. The total fuel cost is simply deducted from your initial holding deposit prior to its refund.
Are your generators noisy? Do you offer silent options?
For noise-sensitive environments like weddings, filming locations, and residential zones, we provide high-performance silent and super-silent generators. These units are housed inside specialized acoustic soundproof canopies designed to muffle operational noise and protect localized soundscapes.

💼 Booking, Insurance, & Emergency Support

Do you offer 24/7 emergency call-out services?
Yes. We specialize in rapid-response disaster recovery and unexpected grid failures. GENSETSUK provides a genuine 24/7 technical support and emergency deployment service across the nation, ensuring your critical operations remain completely uninterrupted.
Do I need insurance to hire a generator?
Yes. Clients are required to have adequate Hired-In Plant Insurance to cover the generator asset against accidental damage, theft, or total loss for the exact duration of the hire contract.

What is the process for booking a generator with GENSETSUK?

Capacity & Planning: We analyze your site demands to provide a transparent turnkey quotation.
Agreement & Deposit: Upon acceptance, we issue your Hire Agreement and Deposit Invoice. Paying the deposit secures your fleet allocation.
Verification: Prior to transport dispatch, we require a copy of your Photo ID (passport or driver's license) alongside a recent utility bill (dated within the last 3 months).
Final Settlement: The main hire invoice must be fully settled before the transport team deploys the power infrastructure to your site.

🏗️ Sectors & Applications

Can you supply power to remote, off-grid locations?
Absolutely. We design and deliver robust prime power generation systems specifically engineered to support remote construction sites, civil engineering works, agricultural facilities, and off-grid live events nationwide.

What support do you provide for commercial applications and events?
We handle everything from initial site capacity evaluation to delivery, professional installation, and commissioning. Our engineers can seamlessly coordinate with on-site contractors, lighting designers, or caterers to guarantee balanced power distributions and zero operational downtime.

Sustainability & Green Energy Options

Can GENSETSUK generators run on eco-friendly alternative fuels?
Yes. Our entire fleet is fully compatible with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel. Switching to HVO can immediately lower your net greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to standard red diesel, without requiring any modifications to the equipment.

What are Stage V compliant generators?
Stage V is the highest European emissions standard for non-road mobile machinery. These advanced units feature integrated exhaust after-treatment systems (like particulate filters and SCR) that dramatically reduce harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions in clean air zones.

Do you offer hybrid power or battery storage systems?
Yes. We can integrate high-efficiency Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) alongside our diesel generators.
This hybrid setup allows the generator to run only when charging the batteries or handling peak loads, significantly lowering total fuel consumption and engine runtime.

How do hybrid systems help with silent operation at night?
By pairing a generator with a battery storage system, the generator can be programmed to switch off entirely during low-load periods (such as overnight on a construction site or event). The battery takes over the base load seamlessly, providing 100% silent power and eliminating nocturnal noise pollution.

What measures do you take to prevent environmental contamination?
All generators in our rental fleet feature fully bunded, double-walled fuel tanks. This design acts as a built-in secondary containment system, ensuring that any internal fluid leaks or spills are completely contained and cannot contaminate the surrounding soil or water table.

How does telemetry help improve site sustainability?
Our fleet is equipped with smart telemetry and remote monitoring systems. We track real-time fuel usage and load profiles to identify if a unit is oversized or running inefficiently. This data lets us optimize your setup, preventing fuel wastage from engine "wet stacking" or unnecessary idling.
